چکیده

We study the chaotic dynamics of a near-integrable Hamiltonian Ablowitz–Ladik lattice, which is N+2-dimensional if N is even (N+1, if N is odd) and possesses, for all N , a circle of unstable equilibria at ε = 0, whose homoclinic orbits are shown to persist for ε 6= 0 on whiskered tori. The persistence of homoclinic orbits is established through Mel’nikov conditions, directly from the Hamiltonian structure of the equations. Numerical experiments which combine space portraits and Lyapunov exponents are performed for the perturbed Ablowitz–Ladik lattice and large scale chaotic behavior is observed in the vicinity of the circle of unstable equilibria in the ε = 0 case. We conjecture that this large scale chaos is due to the occurrence of saddle-center type fixed points in a perturbed 1 d.o.f Hamiltonian to which the original system can be reduced for all N . As ε > 0 increases, the transient character of this chaotic behavior becomes apparent as the positive Lyapunov exponents steadily increase and the orbits escape to infinity.

Investigation of strong force influence on behavior of nuclear energy levels in Calcium and Titanium isotopes: Based on quantum chaos theory

The atomic nucleus is a complex many-body system that consists of two types of fermion (neutron and proton). They are in the strong interaction. The statistical properties of energy levels and influence of strong force between these fermions are well described by random matrix theory. Resonance of energy levels depends on the Hamiltonian symmetry placed in one of the GOE, GUE and GSE ensembles ...

Parabolic resonances in near integrable Hamiltonian systems

When an integrable Hamiltonian system, possessing an m-resonant lower dimensional normally parabolic torus is perturbed, a parabolic m-resonance occurs. If, in addition, the isoenergetic nondegeneracy condition for the integrable system fails, the near integrable Hamiltonian exhibits a at parabolic m-resonance. It is established that most kinds of parabolic resonances are persistent in n (n 3) ...

Chaotic and Arnold stripes in weakly chaotic Hamiltonian systems.

The dynamics in weakly chaotic Hamiltonian systems strongly depends on initial conditions (ICs) and little can be affirmed about generic behaviors. Using two distinct Hamiltonian systems, namely one particle in an open rectangular billiard and four particles globally coupled on a discrete lattice, we show that in these models, the transition from integrable motion to weak chaos emerges via chao...

Billiards: a singular perturbation limit of smooth Hamiltonian flows.

Nonlinear multi-dimensional Hamiltonian systems that are not near integrable typically have mixed phase space and a plethora of instabilities. Hence, it is difficult to analyze them, to visualize them, or even to interpret their numerical simulations. We survey an emerging methodology for analyzing a class of such systems: Hamiltonians with steep potentials that limit to billiards.
